Heading Back to Central Kentucky

It’s been a while since I’ve made a swing back into the Bluegrass, but here in a couple of weeks I’ll get the chance to go back to a couple of venues I enjoy. On Friday, March 11, I’ll play the 10:00 p.m. set at Common Grounds in Lexington.

Common Grounds is on East High Street, near the University of Kentucky campus, so it’s almost like going home again. The last time I played there, it was a chance for a reunion with some friends from my home town. Every time I’ve played there, I’ve gotten to catch up with old friends.

On Saturday, I’ll head back to Danville to play a couple of sets at The Hub Coffee House and Cafe. The Hub is downtown, within walking distance of the Centre College Campus. My set will start at 8:30 p.m.

It’s said that you can’t go home again, and in a way that’s true. No one is the same person they were when growing up at home. We don’t see hometowns the same because we bring our life experiences back with us. However, it’s also said that there’s no place like home, and that’s true, too. One of the joys of reconnecting with friends from the past is the chance to marvel that we made it this far.

This trip will be another good chance to visit and to catch up with friends and family. Then it’s back home again to Indiana.
