I love to play this old Fats Waller tune, Ain’t Misbehavin’. It’s fun to play and folks always seem to enjoy it. On more than one occasion it’s brought sentimental smiles to the faces of folks that I’m pretty sure courted to this song.
I recorded Ain’t Misbehavin’ on Give Us a Song, with a version that I think blends Leon Redbone and Hank Williams, Jr., but the arrangement really evolved after a workshop with Muriel Anderson helped me work in the diminished seventh passing chords.
The video was recorded during the show that Brian Keith Wallen and I did at Ziggie’s Live Music in Denver last September.
