Yesterday I received my confirmation letter for the 500 Festival Mini-Marathon. The “Mini” is all part of the celebration leading up to the Indianapolis 500. The race is a great opportunity to play for a lot of people because the Festival organizers position musicians and bands all along the race course. They have them spaced just far enough so that as runners get out of earshot of one band, thy come into the range of another.
I played the Mini-Marathon one other year and it was a hoot. It’s fun to encourage runners along the way, and they seem to appreciate it. I’ll look forward to playing there again.
The Mini-Marathon is run on the first Saturday in May (seems to me there’s another race that day). This year it will be May 7. I’ll let you know when I find out my position.
