Wallen and Phelps

Wallen and Phelps
Acoustic Roots Music

Hoosier multi-instrumentalist and vocalist Brian Keith Wallen won 2nd place in the 2015 International Blues Challenge and was also named “Artist of the Year” by the Starr-Gennett Foundation.

Molly Wallen is a classically-trained vocalist who is equally comfortable in opera and bluegrass alike.

Kentucky-born guitarist Dean Phelps combines the rhythmic beat of thumbpick guitar with a soulful vocal style. Dean has earned both local and national recognition for his guitar skills.

Incorporating elements of blues, bluegrass, gospel, and folk, the combined influences of Wallen and Phelps range from acoustic favorites like Merle Travis and John Prine to the guitar-driven blues of John Mayer and Doc Watson. Whether at a house concert, festival, church, or brewpub, their storytelling and close-knit harmony vocals bring a soulful dimension to roots music.
