The Otterbein Community Concert Series is a folk- and family-friendly concert series hosted by Otterbein United Methodist Church, near Greenfield, Ind. The series is in its second year, and a big tip o’ the hat goes to Rick Garrett, who organizes and promotes the series, and to the church for hosting the series.
I performed at the Otterbein last summer as an opening act, and it was a thrill to be invited back this year as the headliner for this month’s show on Saturday, April 30. Brian Wallen will be the opening act that evening. The music starts at 7:00. Admission is free, but they do pass the hat in order to provide a little something for the artists and for the church that hosts the event.
This will be my last show before heading down to the Ozark Folk Center in Mountain View, Ark., for Thumbpicking Weekend and the national thumbpicking contest, May 13-14. So concert-goers can expect to hear a few thumbpick instrumentals alongside the standard fare of songs about dogs and possums.
Otterbein United Methodist Church is located at 2901 W 200 N in Greenfield.
